I am a Finalist!

I am 1 of the 3 finalists in the February sketch challenge on the Little Yellow Bicycle blog! I used the Escape Collection for my layout titled  "A Trip To Remember". It includes photos from the MSW Houston Crop last summer. I am so excited to have made it this far and would love your vote!

Happy Saturday!

It's my day to post on the Just Imagine blog and I wanted to share my layout of Sierra in the phone booth at the Fireman's Memorial Park. We went there to take pictures, apparently that's where all the Port kids go, because there was a bunch of them there!
I used the 4 in 1 Kreaxions Punch #305. I punched it with no insert and then backed it with yellow cardstock and added the fall away piece to the top and used a zig zag stitch to connect them:

Thanks for sharing your day with me!

Inspiration Elevator: One Little Word

You may recall from last month's challenge that the purpose of this challenge group was to take our scrapbooking to the next level, to stretch our creative process and to grow as artists by embracing challenges that make us think, work and grow.

This month, our challenger was the super talented Lisa Spiegel. Lisa lives in California with her family and this month she asks us to think about our growth in 2013. This is what she wrote:

"Create a layout about your One Little Word. You know, the word that we scrappers choose in January upon which to reflect for the year. This word should have special meaning to you and be selected for it's potential to help you reach and grow...the only hard part..you must use a photo of yourself and add journaling to the layout explaining the significance of the word..."

I choose the word "SLOW" for my One Little Word, as in slow down! My journaling will explain this later in my post.
Here is my layout:

a close up :

I used a sketch by Wendy Antenucci.
I am entering this layout in the S.W.A.T. Drill #1 All About You Challenge.
My letters are white Thickers painted purple. After the paint was dry I used a white Signo pen to add the inside letters.
I splattered purple, black and blue paint to get the colors of a black eye.
I took a scalloped circle Thicker and added black ink and Patina Glimmer Mist to also convey the black eye.
I accidently, OOPS, stitched my journaling tag to my layout before I wrote my journaling, so I compromised and wrote my journaling on the back of my layout.
My journaling reads:
"I am always in a hurry.
I hate being late.
When I do a chore,
I want it done now.
I have no patience!
That's why this accident happened.
I was in a hurry shoveling the front steps,
the shovel hit a chunck of ice,
came back and the handle hit me right in the eye!
I saw stars....
Once I got my senses back, I continued shoveling and then got the snowblower out and did the driveway.
When I came in the house an hour and a half later,
I checked my eye and the pictures are what I saw!
My kids and Greg are always telling me to slow down.
Guess I should listen:)

I hope you will join the rest of our Inspiration Elevator team to see what word best reflects their plans for change and growth in 2013.

Just Imagine

Good morning and happy Saturday!
I am up on the Just Imagine blog today with my layout of my one little  word for 2013, SLOW. My hubby and kids are always telling me to slow down, it seems I am usually in a hurry, LOL.

I used the Kreaxions 4 in 1 Punch #904 and put the positive piece down first as my border, then flipped the negative piece to the other side of the patterned paper and added that on top:

Slow Down (1024x1019)
Thanks for stopping by and sharing your day with me!
Hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Let's Get Sketchy!

Back again to share a layout I created using the Let's Get Sketchy February Week 1 sketch along with Joan's February challenge at MSW to use hearts on your layout and Let's Capture Our Memories Challenge #4. I used a photo of Greg and I on our wedding day.

Inspired Blueprints

My friend Wendi told me about the Inspired Blueprints blog and that they started back up again, so I had to go check it out, loved the sketch and had to play with it. I combined their sketch with Nik's February Color Challenge at MSW and Let's Capture Our Memories Challenge #1 to use 2 shades of pink and came up with this sweet layout of my daughter.

Life Captured!

It's February and I am a few days late posting this. At My Scraps & More I am hosting the Project 12 or Life Captured challenges as we are calling it, this year. I posted my first 2 page sketch on Friday and my 2 page layout to go with it. January was a quiet month for us and I didn't take many pictures. Sierra let me do a photo shoot, so I used a few of those and she also took a few pics of me and I used one of those. But I have no pics of the guys, maybe this month:)

Here is my sketch:

Just Imagine & My Scraps & More Sketches

It's my day to post over at the Just Imagine blog and I just wanted to share the layout I made using the 4 in 1 Kreaxions Punch #310. I used the positive piece for the bottom border and the negative piece for the top border. These punches are wonderful because you can use the negative pieces too!

This layout is also up on the My Scraps and More Sketch blog for Sketch #14. Here is a layout of my kids kayaking at Bev's cottage last summer:
